Your Address Is a Coordinate: Getting Help to the Right Block
Two numbers and two directions put us on your block. You do not need to know the name of the road you are parked on. Plenty of drivers here do not.
The count starts at one corner downtown
Addresses in Salt Lake City are measured out from the southeast corner of Temple Square, where Main Street crosses South Temple. Everything east of that corner counts east. Everything south of it counts south.
So 1300 East is thirteen blocks east of that corner, and 2100 South is twenty one blocks south of it. Give us both numbers and we know where you are before we ask you anything else.
Long blocks change what a breakdown costs you
- • Stay with the car Give us the two numbers off the nearest corner and wait inside with the doors locked.
- • Note which side you are on East side or west side matters when a block is this long.
- • Use a building number The number on the closest building is the same coordinate pair, so it works just as well.
The original grid was laid out in ten acre blocks with roads 132 feet wide. Those measurements never went away in the older parts of the city. A block here is a long walk, and it is longer in the dark carrying a fuel can.
That is the part people underestimate. You coast to a stop and the next lit corner is further off than it looks. Staying with the car is usually the better call, and we come to the car anyway.
What to tell us when you call
Read the two numbers, then tell us which way you were heading. A named road works too, but the numbers are faster and you can usually read them from the driver seat.
Then tell us what the car did. Cranked and did not catch is a different visit than went quiet at a light. We load different parts for each one.
Why we come to the car
A tow puts your car somewhere you did not choose and adds a day to it. Most of what strands a car on the shoulder gets fixed where it sits. Batteries, alternators and belts are all roadside work.
Same-day service is normal for us. Read us your block and we will tell you when we can be there.
